„TO AVOID“ are grandT, m.a.r.c. cheffe and jean from Berlin, Germany.

The project was founded in 1999 by grandT and marc at the gates of Berlin in sheer of trying out new things and primary to create music which correspond to their way of seeing ELECTRO and which defied the increasing Futurepop and Technoelectro wave. It´s only questionable if the headstrong bandname was the result out of it, too.

In years that followed TO AVOID were supported and completed by cheffe (dj starve) as second producer as well as by jean who henceforth took over creative and graphic functions for TA.

It´s not mistaking that TA is mainly influenced by the former EBM / Oldschoolelectro scene of the nineties, however without copying in any kind that an exactly comparison with other acts would be possible. From their´s own statement acts Bands like FLA, Mentallo & F., NUMB, Skinny Puppy, XMTP a.s.o as real inspiring example for the musical development.

For that the songs are nohow dusty. On the contrary, by a mixture of proven quality basics and electroelements paired with modern sound structures there are arises songs which are gloomy, pure electronic but danceable and 100% free of copied arpegiator dancesounds. In a manner of speaking….. 100% TERROR BANANA FREE!!!

Even electronic music with a decisively YES to the roots of EBM and a decisively NO to current cookie-cutter trends and canned label concepts without beeing neither better nor different, nor outstandig …but for that - 100 percent REAL!

FAZIT: INDEPENDENT MUSIC FOR INDEPENDENT PEOPLE!!!
